Is it true that the U.S. supports democracy only if it conforms to strategic and economic interests of the United States?

Yes no doubt. Even at national level is only a smokescreen for the dictatorship of big business. Using the rhetoric of democracy to legitimize its rule in United States to justify its use of violence worldwide, the State retains its contemporary American setting unprecedented repression mechanisms: a prison system with more than two million people behind bars is the largest in the world, a massive police force and heavily armed, a judicial system that handles more 14 million arrests a year and has the power to impose the death penalty, a huge and powerful military force funded generously imbued with militaristic and anti-democratic sentiments, and comprehensive security "national" unity, which has very wide margin in espionage and meddling in private affairs of individuals. During all these institutions the American people to exercise almost no effective control or supervision.
